General Information on Medical Special Pay

Reserve medical officers called or ordered to active duty, other than for training (not annual training, inactive duty training, unit training assemblies and special tours), for more than 30 days, but less than one year, and have a current, valid, unrestricted license, may be eligible to receive VSP, ASP, BCP and ISP at the rates established in the current fiscal year medical officer pay plans. Payments are made monthly, and amounts are prorated for periods of less than one month. Specific eligibility requirements are identified on individual applications.
Applicable Special Pays may include:
Variable Special Pay - Medical and Dental Corps
Additional Special Pay - Medical and Dental Corps
Single-Year Incentive Special Pay - Medical Corps and CRNAs only (rates based on AFSCs identified in the fiscal year medical officer special pay plan; see application/attachment)
Board Certification Pay - Medical, Dental and specified Nursing and Biomedical Science Corps fields
Multi-Year Special Pay is not authorized
