Reserve Officer Force Development Program

  • Published
Commanders and Directors - Air Force Reserve Command is spearheading the Reserve Officer Force Development Program. Force Development provides career and developmental education vectoring that will not only sharpen our primary specialties, but will help us prepare for tomorrow's wider requirements.

The Air Reserve Personnel Center, the executing agent for Reserve Force Development, held its first Developmental Team meeting in May 2006 for the Civil Engineer career field and has since held 14 additional meetings for 11 other career fields. Eighteen teams are scheduled to meet this year.

A complete list of scheduled development team events is attached.

Each team, chaired by the Career Field Manager, evaluates all its officers' records to provide deliberate counsel maximizing his or her goals and potential. This is accomplished through three avenues: vectors, which are recommendations on assignments, developmental education and any other specific career field factors; SQ/CC recommendations; and in-residence DE recommendations.

As leaders, we should take every opportunity to encourage our reservists to fill out their online Reserve Officer Development Plan (R-ODP) at https://afrctools.afrc.af.mil/FDP/z_Career_Dev.asp. This plan is the vital communication link between an officer's desires and constraints, the supervisor's endorsement and the Developmental Team's recommendations.

I depend on you to open the doors of opportunity for our future leaders and to spread the word on the importance of the R-ODP for every reservist.

For more information, call Lt Col Vince Bugeja, chief of force development, at 800-525-0102 and ask to be transferred to the Personnel Force Development Division.
