Individual Reservists are no longer authorized per diem for missed meals and lodging at locations where government meals and lodging are available, says Air Force Reserve Command. This change is in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations and does not apply to grades O-7 and above.

When IRs generate orders, the appropriate meal and lodging statements must be selected from the menus in AROWS-R. Adding statements to the order, such as “meals not directed” or “meals not available due to mission requirements,” does not generate an entitlement and will be corrected by an orders specialist.  Additionally, AF Form 2282s are no longer accepted for missed meals.

If a member performs Annual Tour and receives per diem when quarters and meals are available, this will be deemed an over payment, and they will be responsible for repayment to the government.

Review AFMAN 34-102, Directory of Government Quarters and Dining Facilities, to determine which Air Force installations have government quarters and meals available, or visit the following links:

Reservists on AT orders are authorized the basic allowance for subsistence. A location where Food Transformation has been implemented does not change the meal availability determination or create authority to reimburse a member while on AT.
