CFC under way at ARPC Published Oct. 9, 2007 By Mike Molina ARPC Public Affairs DENVER -- The 2007-2008 Combined Federal Campaign at the Air Reserve Personnel Center is under way. The active campaign will end Friday, but pledges will be accepted through the end of November. This year's local campaign chairperson is Master Sgt. Dale McCoy of the Reserve of the Air Force Selection Board Secretariat. "The CFC gives people the chance to sit down for a bit and help others," Sergeant McCoy said. "The campaign supports thousands of charitable organizations. Just a few dollars a year can really make the difference in someone's life." Last year, federal employees and military personnel in the Denver metro area reached into their pockets to donate $3.7 million to the CFC. ARPC employees contributed nearly $35,000 last year, which was instrumental in the center receiving the 2006 CFC Traveling Award. The CFC was established in 1961 and is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country. The annual fall fund-raising drive allows nearly four million federal employees and military personnel to contribute to thousands of local and national nonprofit organizations. Contributions can be in cash, check or by payroll deduction. Donors may designate which charities receive their money by filling out a pledge card. On average, one in four federal employees or their dependents will benefit from the CFC charities this year alone. The Denver metro CFC Web site is at www.cfcmetrodenver.org.
