COLONEL MICHAEL A. BATTLE

Col. Michael A. Battle graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.  He received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas College of Law. Colonel Battle is admitted to practice law in the states of Arkansas and California. Colonel Battle is currently the MA to the AFLOA Commander. AFLOA consists of 900 legal professionals operating at 76 locations worldwide. AFLOA is responsible for the administration of military justice throughout the Air Force and defending the Air Force in civil litigation before federal and state courts and administrative boards. AFLOA provides legal experts in the fields of military justice, commercial litigation, contract law, aircraft accident investigations, environmental law, labor law, medical law, utility litigation and tort law. AFLOA is also responsible for training Air Force legal professionals through The Judge Advocate General’s School.

Colonel Battle entered active duty in 1992 and was assigned as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate to the 366th Wing, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. In 1995 Colonel Battle received an assignment to the Defense Contract Management Agency, Western District, El Segundo, California where he served as the Associate District Counsel for Ethics and Personnel. Colonel Battle separated from active duty in 1996. In 2000 Colonel Battle joined the Air Force reserve category B program and was assigned to Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. In 2001, Colonel Battle transferred to the category A program and became the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate at the 301st Fighter Wing in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2005 Colonel Battle became the Staff Judge Advocate at the 301st  Fighter Wing. Colonel Battle was appointed as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, 10th Air Force, in  January 2008. In August 2012 Colonel Battle was appointed as an IMA, Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). In July of 2013 Colonel Battle was appointed as the Staff Judge Advocate, 10th AF.  In July of 2016 Colonel Battle was appointed IMA to the AETC SJA. In December of 2016 Colonel Battle was appointed IMA to the AMC SJA. In August 2018 Colonel Battle was chosen to serve as a Mobilization Assistant (MA) and assigned to The Judge Advocate General’s Office, Administrative Law Directorate, Pentagon, as the MA to the JAA Director where he served until 30 September 2019. Effective 1 October 2019 Colonel Battle was assigned as the MA to the AFLOA Commander. In his civilian job, Colonel Battle works for the Treasury Department as Bureau of Engraving & Printing Assistant Chief Counsel supervising legal personnel in the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
