COLONEL STEPHEN A. MIZAK

Colonel Stephen A. Mizak is dual-hatted as the Commander, Headquarters Air National Guard Readiness Center Detachment 41, and Air National Guard Advisor to the Commander, Air Reserve Personnel Center, Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado. As commander, he is administratively responsible for the Guardsmen fulfilling the Air Reserve Personnel Center mission to provide personnel support to 1.3 million Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, Regular Air Force, and retired members. As advisor, he informs the Air Reserve Personnel Center’s leadership on the impact of Personnel programs and
policies on the 107,100 Air National Guard members in fulfilling their Federal and state missions.

Colonel Mizak enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1991 and was assigned to McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. In 1994, he was selected to work alongside and train Kansas Air National Guard personnel on the B-1B aircraft being transferred from the Active to the Reserve Component. He subsequently joined the 184th Bomb Wing as a drill-status member where he earned his commission as a supply officer. In 2003, Colonel Mizak was assigned to the National Guard Bureau A-Staff as a manpower officer where he helped carry out the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure organizational actions. He returned to the 184th Intelligence Wing in 2008 to take command and manage the merging of the mission support and services flights into the force support squadron. In 2011, he took command of the comptroller flight where he oversaw the implementation of the Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System at the wing.

Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Mizak served as the Chief, Manpower, Organization, and Resources Division, Air National Guard Readiness Center, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
