Lieutenant Colonel MICHAEL R. LOY

Lieutenant Colonel Michael R. Loy is dual hatted as the Commander, Headquarters Air National Guard Readiness Center (ANGRC) Detachment 41 and Air National Guard Advisor to the Commander of Headquarters Air Reserve Personnel Center, Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado.

Lt. Col. Loy is the principal advisor for all Air National Guard matters and provides executive-level advice and functional expertise to the ARPC Commander, executive directors, and senior managers within the Reserve Personnel Center, Headquarters Air Force and National Guard Bureau. He is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing relationships with the Air Staff, Headquarters Air Force, Major Command Staff, and Service Center Headquarters. Lt Col Loy serves as the primary point of contact for execution of the Memorandum of Agreement between ANGRC and ARPC and provides administrative control for all ANG members assigned to ARPC.

Prior to assuming command Loy was the Commander of the 217th Training Squadron, Officer Training School, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Where he was directly responsible to the Commandant, Officer Training School for the initial officer training of approximately 1,500 newly commissioned officers annually. Lt Col Loy previously was the Commander of the Maintenance Operations Flight, 120th Maintenance Group, 120th Airlift Wing, Montana Air National Guard. The 120th Maintenance Operations Flight is authorized 18 personnel and supports the C-130H mission for the entire 120th Airlift Wing through the maintenance of eight assigned C-130 Hercules aircraft. He is responsible to the 120th Maintenance Group Commander for oversight of the Maintenance Operations Areas of Plans, Scheduling and Documentation, Programs and Mobility, Engine Tracking, Maintenance Operations Center and Maintenance Training as well as Maintenance Group Orderly Room functions. He assumed command on 1 September 2017.

Loy enlisted in the United States Air Force in April 1995 and was assigned to Shaw AFB, SC as a Fire Suppression Apprentice. In 1999, Lt Col Loy separated from active duty and joined the Montana Air National Guard as a Fire Fighter. In 2006, he was selected to commission as a Second Lieutenant assigned to the 120th Force Support Squadron. He has deployed on two tours to Al Ali Salem Air Base, Kuwait and to support Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan as well as CENTCOM’s SPARTAN SHIELD; OIR, IR in Doha Qatar..

Loy is a retired Fire Fighter Paramedic from the City of Great Falls Montana. Prior to assuming his current position, Lt Col Loy was the Squadron Commander for the 217 Training Squadron, Officer Training School, Maxwell Air Force Base Alabama.
