Col Slocum is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director of Legislative Liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force. In this position, she serves as the liaison between the Air Force, Space Force, and Congress on all programs, air and space weapons systems and issues such as legislative and constituent inquiries. Col Slocum collaborates directly with the House of Representatives and Senate to secure the resources and authorities of the Department’s annual budget and assist Congress in its constitutionally directed oversight responsibilities. She also prepares the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Chief of Space Operations and other senior Department of the Air Force leaders for engagements and testimony on Capitol Hill.
Colonel Slocum entered the Air Force though the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1999 after graduating from Syracuse University, New York, with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. While on active duty prior to joining the Air Force Reserve in 2006, Col Slocum served as an operational F-15E Weapon Systems Officer and an Instructor Weapon Systems Officer in both operational and F-15E Formal Training Unit squadrons. She has served in a wide range of staff and leadership positions at the Joint and Headquarters Air Force, MAJCOM, wing and squadron level, across the Combat Air Force, Mobility Air Force, and Command and Control mission sets. She accumulated over 1210 flight hours, including 324 combat hours and 60 combat sorties in the F-15E, serving in combat operations Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom, as well as homeland defense for Operation Noble Eagle.
Prior to this position, Col Slocum was the Senior Executive Officer to the Chief of the Air Force Reserve. In this position, she represented the Chief of Air Force Reserve and Commander, Air Force Reserve Command in interactions with agencies internal and external to the Department of Defense and provided oversight and guidance to include Congressional testimony, future force briefs and Air Staff policy.
