Col. Marvin T. Mercier is the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander of Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. The center is responsible for the life-cycle management of nuclear weapons systems supporting two legs of the nation's nuclear triad, including intercontinental ballistic missiles; air-launched cruise missiles; gravity bombs; and nuclear command, control and communications. The center has about 2,000 military and civilian personnel at 20 locations worldwide.
After enlisting in the U.S. Army, Col. Mercier attended the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School. In 1995, he graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and cross-commissioned into the U.S. Air Force. While on active duty, he served as an Operations Research Analyst at the Aeronautical Systems Command, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and a Joint Aerospace Applications Analyst at the Aerospace Command and Control and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Center, Langley AFB, Virginia.
In 2002, Col. Mercier joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve at Ogden Logistics Center, Hill AFB, Utah, before transferring to the Defense Contract Management Agency in 2004. While assigned to DCMA, Col. Mercier held a variety of leadership positions, including the Tertiary Commander at Northrop Grumman in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Commander at Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, California. He also served as Deputy Director for Central Region Command. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served as the Chief Operations Officer for Headquarters DCMA - Iraq/Afghanistan, Camp Victory, Iraq. In spring 2018, Col. Mercier became the Individual Mobilization Augmentee to the Air Force Program Executive Officer for Weapons at Eglin AFB, Florida.
Prior to his current position, Col. Mercier was the Individual Mobilization Augmentee to the Director of Global Power Programs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. Col. Mercier’s civilian career includes almost 30 years of program and engineering management within the defense industry, specializing in the development and modernization of major weapon systems.
