TAP options for Individual Reservists

 Member currently on qualifying 180+ day Title 10 tour

This is the preferred option for completing the Transition Assistance Program.

Contact the local Airman and Family Readiness Center, or sister-service equivalent, withing 90 days of the end of the qualifying tour to schedule TAP. 

Complete TAP in-person, as directed by the A&FRC, during the qualifying tour.

 Member off Title 10 orders | verified employment/school enrollment

This option allows the member to opt-out of Department of Labor Employment Workshop. The member must provide employment verification or proof of enrollment at an accredited university or technical school. 

Member will complete the following items:

  • Pre-separation briefing video
    • This briefing will explain the requirements in more detail and members will begin their DD eForm 2648 (through the DOD TAP website) and Career Readiness Standards Checklist (CRS), which are used to track progress through the program.
    • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Career Readiness Standards Checklist - Complete all blocks except 13, 19, 23-26. There are several forms embedded in the CRS which must also be completed. They are: Individual Transition Plan, 12-month budget and the MOC Gap Analysis
  • VA Benefits Briefings on Joint Knowledge Online (JKO)
    • VA Benefits I for Reserve/Guard (TGPS-US011) (1 hour)
    • VA Benefits II for Reserve/Guard (TGPS-US012) (3 hours)
  • Submit documentation to TAP counselor via AMRDEC-SAFE
    • Send AMRDEC-SAFE package to HQAFRC.CSC.CommunitySupport@us.af.mil
    • VA Benefits briefing training certificates
    • CRS, ITP, 12-month budget and MOC Gap Analysis
    • Proof of employment/school enrollment
    • Indicate the member reviewed the Pre-separation briefing video
  • Capstone - TAP counselor will forward documentation to the member's HQ RIO Detachment commander for review and signature on the DD eForm 2648. This will complete the member's TAP requirement.
Members must be in a duty status to complete Transition Assistance Program requirements and should work with their servicing HQ RIO Detachment and assigned unit to determine which status is right for them.
 Member off Title 10 orders | unemployed/not enrolled in school

    • VA Benefits 1 for Reserve/Guard (TGPS-US011) (1 hour)
    • VA Benefits II for Reserve/Guard (TGPS-US012) (3 hours)
  • T-GPS Tracks (optional, choose one)
    • Career Technical Training track (TGPS-US008) (3 hours)
    • Accessing Higher Education track (TGPS-US009) (4 hours)
    • Entrepreneur track (TGPS-US010) (9 hours)
  • Submit documentation to TAP counselor via AMRDEC-SAFE
    • Send AMRDEC-SAFE package to HQAFRC.CSC.CommunitySupport@us.af.mil
