Airman reunites with family during Braves game

Master Sgt. David Sims and his family embrace during a surprise homecoming May 28 at the Braves baseball game at Turner Field in Atlanta. Sims was returning from a six-month deployment from Kabul, Afghanistan. His family was attending the Braves game and were called onto the field at the top of the fifth inning for a special video tribute from Sims, who they thought was still in Afghanistan. At the end of the video, Sims told them to “wait a minute.” Then, from the other side of the Braves dugout, he appeared and the family raced across the baseball field for the heart-warming reunion witnessed by thousands of applauding fans. Sims is assigned to Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command’s Communications Directorate at Robins Air Force Base, Ga. (Photo by Jessica Blanton)
