Reserve Brigadier General Qualification Board

  • Published

The RBGQB is an annual board convened by the Chief of Air Force Reserve (CAFR) at HQ ARPC, Buckley AFB, CO. AF Reserve Senior Leader Management, HAF/REG, is the office of primary responsibility for management of the RBGQB. The board is held in accordance with AFI 36-2115, Chapter 2, General Officer Assignments. The RBGQB is not a promotion board, but a first step to identify AF Reserve colonels with the potential to be assigned to a Reserve general officer position. Only colonels selected by the RBGQB are eligible for placement into a Reserve general officer position and subsequently have the opportunity to meet a Reserve General Officer Vacancy Promotion Board (GOVPB). RBGQB board members typically select approximately 35% of the eligible Reserve colonels whose records meet the board. Of those selected, typically 10-15 are placed into Reserve general officer billets.

The board usually convenes in August each year and the results are used to generate candidate lists for placement in general officer positions until results are released for the following RBGQB. Additional information can be found on the REG Portal page to include:
