Applicable to: Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve
Airman may request certain corrections to their military records, electronically, though the virtual Personnel Center (vPC), with proper supporting documentation. If the request is determined to be incomplete, the Airman will be notified via email, with a request for the type of information required to make the change.
Requests to correct 1) Military Service Dates, 2) Duty History, 3) TDY History, 4) Personal Data (i.e. name, address, phone numbers, email address, dependants and marital status), 5) DD Form 214, 6) Points, 7) Awards and Decorations (Recognition), and 8) Performance Reports may be submitted, with applicable supporting documentation, by using the applications listed under the 'Tools' section below.
Note: Requests for correction submitted through vPC-GR as well as any contact information updated in the "My Profile" tab will not change your computer record in MilPDS, changes are made by counselors.
Specific corrections to common issues, identified above, are listed below.
Military Service Dates
The following are common types of service date corrections: Total Active Federal Military Service Date (TAFMSD), Total Active Federal Commissioned Service (TAFCS), Total Federal Commissioned Service Date (TFCSD), Total Years Service Date (TYSD), Total Active Federal Commissioned Service Date (TAFCSD), Total Enlisted Military Service Date (TEMSD) (E-7 and E-8 Only), Mandatory Separation Date (MSD), Date Initial Entry Reserve Forces (DIERF), Date Initial Entry Uniform Service (DIEUS), Pay Date, Date of Rank (DOR), current grade and permanent grade effective dates.
A primary but not all inclusive list of source documents that can be used for military service date corrections are as follows:
- DD Form 4, Enlistment/Reenlistment Document Armed Forces of the United States
- DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty
- DD Form 215, Correction to DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty
- DD Form 1966, Record of Military Processing, Armed Forces of the United States
- AF IMT 100, Request and Authorization for Separation
- AF IMT 133, Oath of Office (Military Personnel)
- NGB Form 337, Oaths of Office
- ANG/USAFR Point Credit Summary or other services equivalent
- AF IMT 973, Request and Authorization for Change of Administrative Orders
- AF IMT 1613, Statement of Service
- NGB 22, Report of Separation and Record of Service
- NGB 22a, Correction to Report of Separation and Record of Service
- Official orders: i.e. Extended Active Duty orders, Annual Training Orders, amended orders, TDY orders in a military status – BMT, Tech School, Orders placing a member in an active duty status, Promotion Orders (ANG/Res), Discharge/Separation Orders, Reserve Assignment Orders with adjusted DOR in “Remarks” section, etc.
Duty History
The permanent positions and locations assigned during a military career. The following are common types of duty history corrections: Duty Title, Location, Duty AFSC, Effective Date and Command Level.
A primary but not all inclusive list of source documents that can be used for duty history corrections are as follows:
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders
- Assignment or Appointment Orders
- AF Forms 910/911 or AF Forms 707A/707B (EPR/OPR)
- AF Form 1098, Special Task Certification and Recurring Training
- AF Form 2095/AF Form 2096, Classification/On-the Job Training Action
- Special Orders (P-Series)
- General Orders (for organizational changes)
TDY History
A record and history of the duty performed away from home station. The following are common types of TDY history: School Tour, Annual Tour, Deployments/Contingencies, Exercises, MPA/RPA Tour.
A primary but not all inclusive list of source documents that can be used for TDY history corrections are as follows:
- Certified MPA/RPA Orders
- Contingency Exercise Deployment (CED) Orders with certified Travel Voucher
- DD Form 1610
- Letter of Evaluation (LOE)
- Decoration Order or Citation, provided the narrative identifies the location and has inclusive dates
Note: HQ ARPC does not update this as it is a unit level responsibility.
Personal Data Updates
Personal information, to include name, address, phone numbers, email address, dependants and marital status (vPC Only), updates may be requested through the vMPF or vPC. Specific personal data updates such as martial status/name change will require supporting documentation, and can only be sent through vPC for update.
Contact information may be updated through the vMPF using 'Access AFPC Secure Apps - vMPF (CAC Only)' link below under 'Tools.' These types of updates include home and mailing address, phone numbers, and email address, but only with CAC access.
Here are the steps:
- Log into the vMPF using the 'Access AFPC Secure Apps - vMPF (CAC Only)'
- Go to 'Self-Service Actions'
- Click on 'Personnel Data', then 'Record Review', and finally 'Individual'
- Simply click those applicable items underlined in blue, and update the information
If you do not have CAC access to 'AFPC Secure Apps,' you can request personal data updates by logging into the vPC online 'Personal Data Updates' application provided below under 'Tools.You can use your Login/Password for for this action.
NOTE: Updates to the vPC PROFILE tab within the vPC Dashboard will not change or update your MilPDS record.
DD Form 214 – Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty
Airmen may submit requests for DD Form 214 corrections through vPC by attaching the form in question along with the relevant documentation to substantiate the change or correction (i.e. Citation for update to Award & Decoration). A primary but not all inclusive list of source documents that can be used for correcting DD Form 214:
- DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty
- DD Form 215, Correction to DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty
- DD Form 4, Enlistment/Reenlistment Document Armed Forces of the United States
- AF IMT 100, Request and Authorization for Separation
- AF IMT 104, Service Medal Award Verification
- AF IMT 133, Oath of Office (Military Personnel)
- ANG/USAFR Point Credit Summary or other services equivalent
- AF IMT 973, Request and Authorization for Change of Administrative Orders
- Official orders: i.e. Extended Active Duty orders, Annual Training Orders, amendments to orders, final travel vouchers for any overseas travel, TDY orders in a military status – BMT, Tech School, Orders placing a member in an active duty status, Discharge/Separation Orders
Note: If corrections need to be made to blocks 23-30 on the DD Form 214, member must submit a new Board of Correction to Military Record (BCMR) request.

Note: If the source document required for update is not available and the member cannot provide supporting documentation; the corrections/updates cannot be completed. In this case, the BCMR process can be initiated due to a disagreement in the records.
