Air Force Reserve Command is testing Desktop as a Service also known as Desktop Anywhere to help Reserve Citizen Airmen access critical applications on their personal computer (PC). Whether on a PC, Mac or Chromebook, Desktop Anywhere will provide Airmen 24/7 secure access to military applications on a user’s personal computer using the same look and feel of their computer at their desk on base.

The Desktop Anywhere application will be completely isolated from the rest of the data on a PC. It replicates the Air Force desktop environment without downloading or uploading anything from the user’s computer.

The system will provide mobile accessibility using member's CAC readers for Windows and computers.

Desktop Anywhere will integrate telephony, data, applications video/audio conferencing and security to the mobile workforce in a fast, flexible and simple environment.

Innovative solutions like Desktop Anywhere will help Individual Mobilization Augmentees supporting active-component missions and deployed military members in more effectively operating in remote locations and an ever changing theater of operation.
