Members of the Bureau of Naval Personnel, the transformation lead for U.S. Navy personnel services, visited the Air Reserve Personnel Center here Sept. 13 - 14, 2011.

The three-member team from Millington, Tennessee, met with several functional directors who oversee Air Force personnel services. The ARPC leaders illustrated the many lessons learned as the Air Force worked through transformation initiatives over the past several years.

"It's very valuable to meet with our service counterparts facing the same challenges. Whether it's a Navy or Air Force process, cultural change is difficult," said Mr. David Aldrich, ARPC Commander's Action Group director, who led the team through varied demonstrations.

The BUPERS, is led by the Chief of Naval Personnel and serves as a parent command to the Navy Personnel Command. It is much like a human resources agency in a corporation, which provides administrative leadership, policy planning and general oversight of a command.

Cmdr. Cliff Christy, the U.S. Navy team-lead said, "The Air National Guard really makes the Air Force successes even more remarkable - you are doing great things to bring service right to your Airmen."

The members visited the new ARPC building at Buckley, where they received a welcome by Col. Pat Blassie, ARPC commander, a mission briefing, and visited several key ARPC directorates.

The purpose of their visit was to gain a clear understanding of customer support that ARPC provides to Air Reserve component Airmen, including centralized transaction processing, relieving the field of work through centralization, coordination between the ARPC and Air Force Personnel Center understanding of reserve component/active component integration and cooperation and ARPC organizational structure.
