ID CARD UPDATE, SSN REMOVAL NOTIFICATION (ANG, AFRC)
- Beginning June 2011, the SSAN will no longer printed on DOD ID cards to protect the personal identity information of cardholders. A "DoD ID Number" will be printed on all ID cards and eligible beneficiaries will also have a "DoD Benefits Number" printed on their ID card. Current ID cards are considered valid as the expected life-cycle of social security number removal will take four-years and will be done using a three phased approach. Identification Cards will be replaced through attrition, i.e., a new card issued upon expiration of the existing card; a change in rank occurs; or the card has been lost or stolen. For more information, contact the Total Force Service Center - Denver at 800-525-0102.
