Combined Federal Campaign runs through Nov. 17 at ARPC Published Oct. 7, 2010 By Mike Molina ARPC Public Affairs DENVER -- The 2010-2011 Combined Federal Campaign at the Air Reserve Personnel Center is under way. The active campaign began Oct. 7 and runs through Nov. 17. Brig. Gen. Kevin Pottinger, ARPC commander, kicked off this year's campaign. "The importance of the CFC cannot be overstated," General Pottinger said. "It's a volunteer basis and your money will go a long way. There are a lot of organizations who can really benefit." Last year, federal employees and military personnel in the Denver metro area donated $3.5 million to the hundreds of charities supported by the CFC. The CFC was established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy. It is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country, and the only charitable solicitation allowed in the federal workplace. Contributions can be made by cash, check or payroll deduction. Donors designate which charities receive their money by filling out a pledge card. On average, one in four federal employees or their dependents benefit from CFC charities each year.
