This year, 48 Airmen took their own lives - two were Reservists. I am asking for your help to prevent another tragic loss through vigilance, involvement with friends and family, and concern for your own emotional well-being. The primary suicide risk factors - relationship problems, finances, career, disciplinary or legal issues, and substance abuse - can also be mitigated through complete annual and deployment-related screenings and using the numerous resources available to target those risk factors.

The Air Force has many suicide prevention initiatives, including the new Deployment Transition Center (DTC), the Ask, Care, Escort (ACE) campaign, and our "Project Wingman" Web site at: http://afrc.wingmantoolkit.org. I also encourage you to become familiar with national resources such as the 24-hour National Suicide Prevention lifeline at (800) 273-TALK and the TRICARE Mental Health Resource Center at: http://www.tricare.mil/mentalhealth.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of every Citizen Airmen and the critical role wingmen play to help prevent suicide. My deepest appreciation to you and your family for all that you have done for the Air Force Reserve Command.

Until next time,

CS
