ORI: 460th Space Wing is satisfactory in inspection

BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. --  The 460th Space Wing came out of its recent Operational Readiness / Unit Compliance Inspection with an overall satisfactory rating, said representatives of the Air Force Space Command Inspector General team during the outbrief today.

"I am thrilled and honored to lead this team of professionals we have at Buckley Air Force Base," said Col. Clint Crosier, 460th Space Wing Commander. "This is the seventh ORI/UCI I have gone through in my career, and this one was longer, tougher, more comprehensive, more penetrating, and more taxing than any I have ever seen before. To successfully pass an inspection of this scope and magnitude is a testament to the outstanding men and women of Buckley Air Force Base. I am extraordinarily proud of each and every one of them."

During the ORI, the wing was evaluated on its readiness to perform the operational mission, from deploying Airmen in support of combatant commanders and humanitarian missions worldwide to responding to natural disasters and terrorist attacks. A series of exercises tested the wing's readiness in this regard.

Combined with the ORI was the Unit Compliance Inspection, which evaluated the wing's compliance with Air Force Instructions and policies while carrying out the day-to-day home station mission. Inspectors evaluated primary and additional duties for all 460th SW units, and even worked with some tenant units where their additional duties were part of 460th SW programs.

"Overall, we did fantastic," said Doug Carroll, 460th SW Director of Staff. "We stepped up to the challenge, kicked butt, took names and showed the IG why we're the premier space operations base in the Front Range."
