Family Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (FSGLI)

  • Published
Commanders-

OSD identified marital data mismatches between DEERS and MilPDS in September and requested all reservists be notified of possible errors that could affect their Family Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (FSGLI) coverage. ARPC immediately sent letters to affected Airmen, and again in April, advising that corrective action was required. They should provide copies of supporting documents (i.e. marriage and/or divorce certificates) and ensure their personal information in both systems reflects the correct data. It is possible that some are not being charged or erroneously charged for wanted or unwanted coverage.

Unfortunately, only 12 percent of identified Airmen have taken corrective action: (NOTE: We also received 109 returned letters because of incorrect addresses.)

                                            Identified    TakenAction    Percentage
Unit reservists                  5,959           700                   12
IMAs                                    2,142           282                   13

TSgt Wes Autry, AFRC/A1BB, wesley.autry@afrc.af.mil, can provide names of Unit Assigned members while names of IMAs can be received from the ARPC Directorate of Personnel Program Management, arpc.dppedl@arpc.denver.af.mil.

At this time, ARPC cannot make corrections in DEERS nor do MPFs have the capability to update MilPDS. Resolution of this issue is a joint effort--unit assigned Airmen must contact their commander's support staffs to correct errors in MilPDS, while IMAs should log on to vPC-GR or fax the supporting documents to 478-327-2215.

To update DEERS, Airmen must visit their MPF. ARPC has contacted the Defense Manpower Data Center to obtain access and permission to update DEERS to provide better assistance for our customers. Defense Finance and Accounting Service is currently in the process of establishing a debt for the Airmen who have not been charged for FSGLI because of inaccurate information and will start collecting delinquent funds soon. We will continue to work with your MPFs and CSSs to ensure that necessary data are updated.
