Col. Kevin Pottinger, Air Reserve Personnel Center commander, spoke to more than 200 Airmen and civilian employees here during commander's call May 14.

The call was Colonel Pottinger's first at ARPC, and he said his learning curve has been "exponential" in the month and a half since he assumed command in April.

"It's been a culture change coming from the fighter wing," he said. "And the only way I can be effective is if I learn this job. I need your support. I need you to be my wingman."

Colonel Pottinger stressed the importance of ARPC's mission.

"Our job as personnelists is to take care of our Airmen," he said. "Our job is to make sure we give our customers the best support we possibly can."

Colonel Pottinger said he hoped the audience would share his message and the information from commander's call with their co-workers. Representatives from Buckley's Education Office and the Rocky Mountain United Service Organizations spoke at the call, and winners of ARPC's quarterly awards and other awardees were recognized.

"There's been a lot of good information here today," he said. "I hope after you've listened, you tell your wingman this was really worth it."

Colonel Pottinger also thanked and praised the civilian employees at ARPC, who make up more than half of ARPC's workforce.

"What I see with our civilians is the continuity," he said. "If it wasn't for our civilian force, we would not be able to provide the support we do for our customers."

Commander's calls are held quarterly. The calls are an opportunity for ARPC Airmen and civilians to hear from and ask questions directly from the commander.
