New ARPC commander announced

Reserve officials announced today that Col. Kevin E Pottinger will be the new commander of the Air Reserve Personnel Center here.

He will assume command from Col. Jerry Costello, ARPC's interim commander.

Colonel Pottinger has served as the current commander of Air Force Reserve Command's 301st Fighter Wing at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Forth Worth, Texas, since July 2006. He is a command pilot with more than 4,100 hours including 18 combat sorties in the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Before his current position, he was the 10th Air Force director of operations. He was commissioned in 1976 after completing the Air Force ROTC program as a Distinguished Graduate at Arizona State University. He entered the Air Force Reserve in 1991 after spending 15 years on active duty. Colonel Pottinger has seen duty as an instructor pilot, flight examiner, flight commander, weapons officer, follow-on test and evaluation test pilot, safety officer, operations officer and as operations group commander at the 301st Fighter Wing.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters and the Air medal.

ARPC provides life-cycle personnel services to more than 1.2 million Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Citizen Airmen to ensure they are prepared, available resources in the event of a national emergency.
