Revised Retirement Certificates, RIRP Extended, NDAA Changes Retention Age, Deployment Data Review, February UTA Support Published Jan. 23, 2009 ARPC NOTAM 057 -- Commanders- REVISED RETIREMENT CERTIFICATES (ANG, AFRC) - With the Jan. 20 inauguration of our new Commander-in-Chief, the DD Form 2542, "Certificate of Appreciation for Service in the Armed Forces of the United States," requires revision. Airmen retiring Jan. 20, 2009, or later will receive the new certificate once it becomes available. For those who qualify, the "Letter of Appreciation" will also change. Airmen with a Jan. 20, 2009, or later effective date of retirement cannot be issued certificates until new versions are received from the Air Force Departmental Publishing Office. The Air Reserve Personnel Center will keep a roster of affected Airmen and forward the certificate(s) as soon after receipt as possible. It may take 90 days or more to receive the revised certificates. The ARPC Contact Center will work with unit points of contact if an unsigned certificate is required to be read at a retirement ceremony. NDAA EXTENDS RIRP TO DEC. 31, 2009 (ANG, AFRC) - The Fiscal 2009 National Defense Authorization Act has extended Reserve Income Replacement Program payments for Reserve Component members experiencing extended and frequent mobilization for active duty service through Dec. 31, 2009. NDAA CHANGES RETENTION AGE (ANG, AFRC) - National Guard and Reserve chaplains and officers in health profession specialties are now authorized retention until age 68. Previously the retention age was until age 67. A secretary of the Air Force waiver is required for extending the officer's mandatory separation date until age 68. DEPLOYMENT DATA FOR FEB. 23 MAJOR PROMOTION BOARD (AFRC) -- All captains meeting the Feb. 23, 2009, USAFR Line and Health Professions Major Promotion board need to verify their deployment data are correct. Although eliminating the visibility of 45-day deployment data is under consideration, it has not been officially approved and will, as of this date, still be visible to the promotion board.
