Air Reserve Personnel Center employees can call a new toll-free number to find out reporting information during severe weather.

The ARPC inclement weather line is 1-800-435-3395. Callers will hear a recorded message with the reporting status for ARPC.

"Our goal is to have this information updated by 5 a.m. so early reporters can check the weather line and ARPC's operation status before leaving home," said Lt. Col. Mike Saylor, ARPC's director of mission support.

ARPC officials also use several other ways to notify employees of a closure or delayed reporting, including: the Installation Warning System, a posted message on the ARPC Web site, and a telephone recall.

IWS is an automated notification system that can call and e-mail employees with reporting information. The system was implemented last year at ARPC.

ARPC's inclement weather reporting guidance eliminated the use of television and radio announcements regarding the center's reporting status.

"We wanted to use the most effective means available to notify personnel of reporting status," Colonel Saylor said. "However, at times the IWS could possibly be down. The other options available still permit notification at the earliest opportunity."

ARPC officials consult with leaders at the 460th Space Wing at Buckley Air Force Base, the Buckley Annex Control Center and other available weather information to make a determination about the center's reporting status, Colonel Saylor said.

Even if a delay or closure is not announced, every employee has the option of calling their supervisor to request leave if they feel safety is an issue, he said.

"Our primary concern is the safety of our people," Colonel Saylor said. "Delayed reporting enables the roads and parking lot to be cleared, further ensuring the safety of our workforce. This in turn allows us to fulfill our mission, with the support of our dedicated Airmen and civilian employees."
