Staff Sgt. Hugh Robinson, Retirements Technician, Directorate of Personnel Program Management, is the spotlight of the week.

Sergeant Robinson has been in the Air Force for six years and is from Laurel, Md.
He is working toward a computer science degree, and enjoys playing video games, programming, hanging out with family, watching movies and practicing martial arts. Sergeant Robinson said this winter will be his first in Denver and he's looking forward to snowboarding.

What is your most memorable Air Force experience?

That's a hard question. Even though I haven't been in the Air Force that long, I've had several good experiences. When I reenlisted, it was inside of a C-130. It would've been cooler if we were flying, but it was just parked on the flight line.

Why did you join the Air Force?

I joined the Air Force to be a part of this country's defense and to further my education with the benefits that the Air Force offers. I also plan on traveling and I figure being a part of the Air Force is the best way to see the world.

If you could change one thing about the Air Force what would it be?

I guess if I were part of the process, I'd change how we train people in technical school. I remember when I went through retraining to be a personnelist I thought to myself, "Man, this stuff should be taught to everyone." There were a lot of things I learned then that I wish I knew in my previous career field. Hopefully, someday I'll be able to change that because I believe all Airmen need to know the basics of their personnel information and how it's dealt with.

If you were not in the military, where would you be?

If I weren't in the Air Force I'd like to think I'd have a degree from ITT and be doing some kind of computer job while helping instruct martial arts back home, but you never know what could've happened. I could've also gone to college for some kind of graphic arts degree. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do before deciding to go into the Air Force, but I did know that computers were in my future somewhere.

What would you like to do when you retire?

When I retire I want to relax on the beaches of the Philippines. Maybe before all the relaxing, I'll do some programming for Blizzard or computer animation for Pixar but who knows. My future goals have about a 10-year cap on them. I try not to think about what I'll be doing after that.
