Master Sgt. Laramie Reece, superintendent, Directorate of Personnel Data Systems, is the spotlight of the week.

Sergeant Reece is a 17-year veteran of the Air Force and is from Commerce City, Colo.
He enjoys fishing, camping, water-skiing, coaching flag football for a local recreation center, playing video games -- and most importantly, spending time with his family.

What is your most memorable Air Force experience?

I have had quite a few memorable experiences from all my honor guard days at ARPC and Travis Air Force Base, and when I was a jet mechanic.

If I had to pick just one, I would say one of the best was when I was stationed at Travis AFB at the operations squadron and operations support squardron group orderly room where all the pilots worked. I was offered to go up in a KC-10 Extender and fly during a training mission where we were refueled and then we refueled a pair of F-16 Fighting Falcons over the meteor site in Arizona -- that was an awesome experience. I have pictures to continually remind me.

Most of my career, I have had the chance to see some remarkable things, and they are all equally memorable, so that was a tough pick.

Why did you join the Air Force?

My family has all been in one of the services, except for the Air Force. Since I was a child, I loved planes -- especially fighters -- so I always wanted to join the Air Force, and I am the first in my family to do so.

If you could change one thing about the Air Force what would it be?

I would have to say the way we treat, recognize and reward our people. Sometimes we are so busy in our daily activities that we forget to stop and see if everyone is doing all right and see if there is anything we can do to help them out, give them a pat on the back, or help them relieve some of the stress we experience. I would like to see more done in that area.

If you were not in the military, where would you be?

I would definitely be doing something in the computer or information technology world. It's one of those things I have always enjoyed doing.

What would you like to do when you retire?

Besides relax? I am going to look into the IT or computer areas for my future, but most importantly, I am going to try and slow down!
