Capt. Jane Callender, ARPC's Executive Officer to the Commander, is the spotlight of the week.

Captain Callender has been in the Air Force for 20 years, and is from Winona, Minn.

She enjoys almost all water activities, including: skiing, sailing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and white-water rafting. She also enjoys snow-skiing and "hanging out in the mountains whenever I can get away."

She said she also spends a lot of time with her teenage son at football games and school functions, or working on college applications.

What is your most memorable Air Force experience?

I spent my first four years of the Air Force in the weather career field, and I was initially stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. During that time, I got to know a lot of pilots that would fly through Fairchild on a regular basis. On my down time, I was able to jump on a few hops to and from California and during one of my trips to Travis AFB, we returned on a KC-135 Stratotanker and I got to go back and watch the refueling of a KC-10 Extender over the Pacific Ocean ... it was awesome! Being in the weather field occasionally had its perks.

Why did you join the Air Force?

I decided to join the Air Force because I didn't feel I was quite ready for college and I wanted to do something that required me to step out of my comfort zone and experience something totally different.

If you could change one thing about the Air Force what would it be?

The female uniforms (all of them).

If you were not in the military, where would you be?

I would be managing a "green" company nine months out of the year and travelling the world the other three months. This is just something that I am very passionate about, but I just haven't decided what the company will be. The vacation part is easy!
