Officials at the Air Reserve Personnel Center here unveiled a new program to help employees save money on their daily commutes.

The ARPC Rideshare Program is a carpooling Web page for Airmen and civilian employees at ARPC. The program is on ARPC's internal Web site and connects employees looking to carpool.

"We're consistently looking for ways to improve the resources available to Airmen and civilian employees at ARPC," said Lt. Col. Kim Wheeler, ARPC public affairs officer. "The intranet Rideshare program is another tool we can use to ease the burden of record-high commuting costs."

The site offers listings for employees who are looking to ride with someone or who are willing to drive the carpool. Users must enter some basic information online and can exchange initial correspondence using work e-mail addresses. Submissions are forwarded to the public affairs office before being posted on the intranet. If a posting changes, it can be removed or updated by contacting public affairs.

PA officials worked with Tech. Sgt. Jill McClarney, a programmer from ARPC's Directorate of Personnel Data Systems, to take the program from concept and design to reality.

"Many thanks to Sergeant McClarney for assisting in the development," Colonel Wheeler said. "Her expertise helped make this happen."

While the program is in its infancy, the PA staff will be looking for suggestions from users to make improvements, Colonel Wheeler said.

"We look forward to this becoming another great benefit for employees to use, and we welcome feedback on the carpool program and any of the products we provide," she said. "We're always looking for suggestions on how we can do something better."

ARPC also offers an incentive program for employees who ride public transportation. The program provides up to $115 in transportation vouchers for employees who take the bus, light rail or ride in a commercial van pool.
