RMG commander visits familiar territory

The Readiness Management Group has a close relationship with the Air Reserve Personnel Center.

The RMG, which manages individual reservists who are ready to be mobilized, was established at ARPC nearly two years ago. (Shortly thereafter, the group was relocated to Robins Air Force Base, Ga.) Also, many of the personnel functions the RMG provides, like ensuring Individual Mobilization Augmentees are current with medical, dental and security clearances, were once performed at ARPC.

On Aug. 28 and 29, Col. Nancy Robinson, RMG commander, visited ARPC, to hear recommendations on how the two agencies can provide the best personnel services to IMAs. It was familiar territory for Colonel Robinson who served as the director of ARPC's directorate of assignments from July 2003 until July 2005.

"It's nice to come back and work with people face-to-face," Colonel Robinson said. "We're looking for a partnership to work hand-in-hand with the folks at ARPC and get the best possible customer service to the IMAs and to provide a ready mobilization asset."

Officials in ARPC's directorate of assignments' training branch are touting positive results from the relationship with the RMG, specifically with IMAs who are changing career fields.

"The dynamics of ARPC and the RMG working together have reduced enlisted military overtime training by two percent, which is below the (Air Force Reserve Command) standard," said Senior Master Sgt. Jennifer Koenig, superintendent of DPA's developmental education branch.

Sergeant Koenig said ARPC's tracking and identifying the IMAs who must complete their technical school requirements, coupled with the RMG's assurance that the requirements are completed are what led to the successful reduction.

As a part of her visit to ARPC, Colonel Robinson said she wants to continue to find ways of providing "smarter," more efficient personnel service to IMAs.

"If there is a process that (Personnel Services Delivery) has worked on, we're going with that," she said. "We're not going to reinvent the wheel."

The RMG is responsible for administrative and personnel functions of nearly 15,000 IMAs and individual reservists.
