Total Force campaign medals and ribbon updates have been centralized at the Total Force Service Center - San Antonio to reduce the transactional workload in active duty force support squadrons and military personnel sections.

TFSC-SA automatically mass updated the following awards and ribbons in the Military Personnel Data System for deployed active duty members:

·Afghanistan Campaign Medal
·Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal
·Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon

Effective July 15, 2014, TFSC-SA will automatically mass update Air Reserve Component records comprised of Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve members. The mass update will be accomplished on or about the 15th of each month. To meet the criteria for mass update, ARC members must have deployed 30 consecutive days or more to a qualifying deployed location. Those members deploying less than 30 consecutive days should contact their servicing MPS to determine award eligibility and update processing, if applicable.

Each returning deployed member, 30 consecutive days or more, is advised to review and validate their military personnel records no earlier than 60 calendar days after their return from a deployment to ensure the aforementioned medals and ribbons have been properly updated in their record. If a member discovers no update actions were taken, their servicing FSS or MPS is responsible for manually updating the missing medals and ribbons.

The myPers web site located at mypers.af.mil provides additional information on eligibility criteria for these medals/ribbon.
