The Air Reserve Personnel Center's separations branch launched a new automated application here Aug. 1, 2014, to reduce the large volume of backlogged customer requests to zero in the next few months.

"We currently have more than 2,100 customers waiting for their National Guard Bureau Form 22s," said Senior Master Sgt. Monica Ramirez, ARPC Separations branch chief. "With this new automated process, we will be able to take care of all of those customers by October."

This application automates data and service dates for implementation on the NGB Form 22, the National Guard Report of Separation and Record of Service form. The form is similar to the DD Form 214.

"We are no longer looking up multiple databases to calculate service dates," she said. "There is a visible light at the end of the backlog tunnel because additional people have been brought on active duty orders to assist with the backlog."

Ramirez said the members of the separations team are singing and doing the "happy dance."

"We can relax a bit as our technicians maximize NGB Form 22 production and bring it to a whole new level," she said. "Initially, our folks were able to complete four incidents per day with manual calculations. Today, they rock about 12 a day and the number is growing."

Tech. Sgt. Gary Scarsella, ARPC separations team technician, has been one of the key players testing and retesting the application to perfect the calculations.

"We shouldn't have to face a back-log of incidents anymore," he said. "Since we will be able to keep up with the demand, we'll have time to take on additional tasks to help the team."
