Fifteen members from the Air Reserve Personnel Center here participated in the 9th annual Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon May 18, 2014, in Denver.

More than 17,000 runners took part in the event, which offers seven races: the marathon, half marathon, 10-mile race, 5-kilometer run and three marathon relay races.

Senior Master Sgt. Brian Marr, ARPC force development manager, completed the marathon. Like other ARPC runners who ran the course, he's no stranger to running long distances.

"This was my first full-marathon, but I have done more than 10 half-marathons," Marr said. "My time was just under five hours. Other than finishing, that was my only real goal."

Staff Sgt. Matthew Faini, ARPC points management technician, led the volunteer effort and described the support they provided to runners.

"The ARPC team energized the runners. In doing so, it charged us up, too," said Faini, whose group encouraged and offered refreshments to runners. "We are very eager to give support to our communities."

The 26.2 mile marathon highlighted the Mile High City's iconic landmarks, provided entertainment along the route and celebrated runners' accomplishments in Denver's City Park after the race.

ARPC runners included:
Lt. Col. Amy Boehle, Maj. Trent Champion, Senior Master Sgt. Brian Marr, Robert Gieser, Martin White, Robert Scott and Daniel Brandenburger.

ARPC volunteers included:
Staff Sgts. Matthew Faini, Alexis McCray, Abrillo Corpuz, Diaydra Gardner, Rashauna Forbes, Senior Airmen Evan Joacin, Myra Schulenburg and Airman 1st Class Matthew Greger.
