Deliberately Managed Button on Reserve Development Plan Published Aug. 26, 2014 By Cindy Dewey Air Reserve Personnel Center Public Affairs ARPC NOTAM 138 - Commanders -- A change to the Reserve-Development Plan has been made in which members will no longer see the option to select to have their career "Deliberately Managed" when completing their R-DP. The Air Force Reserve Force Development Program is designed to maintain the Citizen Airman culture and create a deliberate, systematic process to develop competitive strategic senior leaders postured to serve in any capacity required by the Air Force. This reinforces what we value as a Reserve force and our equity as Total Force Airmen. The command is deliberately managing key, command, and joint positions, not individuals and this is the reason for the change. The four pillars of Reserve strategic senior leader development are: assignments in command, Joint Duty Assignment List positions, National Capital Region, and higher headquarters; collectively referred to as KCJ positions. KCJ positions are advertised for officers with developmental focus by way of term limited assignments. Members identified by their career field as High Potential Officers via the Key Personnel List, Reserve Command Screening Board list and the Reserve Brigadier General Qualification Board list, will be more competitive for these KCJ positions. Completing an R-DP will no longer require selecting whether you want to be "Deliberately Managed" but it is still your opportunity to communicate your Reserve assignment and professional development preferences, career goals and availability, to your career field senior leadership. Completing the R-DP is your only opportunity to be scored, vectored, and considered for your career field's KPL. By meeting your career field Development Team, assignment recommendations and experiences that most benefit you and AFRC will be identified for your consideration and Reserve career planning.
