Every year, Buckley Air Force Base recognizes one individual from the local community for their efforts made toward supporting Team Buckley by presenting them the Community Hero of Buckley award.

A day where base leadership and the community come together to recognize the outstanding efforts of one of their peers, it was a unanimous decision that Lisa R. Buckley, American Automation Building Solutions Inc. chief of operations, was this year's recipient.

"She's absolutely well deserving," said Cindy Lincicome, Betance Enterprises Inc. director of preconstruction. "I've known her for ten years and throughout that time she has been a strong supporter of our military and military families."

In the past year, Buckley has done a lot to support Team Buckley including participating as a member of the Honorary Commander program.

The event included a casual lunch, conversation and a short ceremony recognizing Buckley and her accomplishments.

Lincicome said that she thinks this event was important because it highlights the relationship between Buckley AFB and the community.

"I think the recognition the base gives to its local community members definitely speaks volumes on the base," Lincicome added.

Buckley described that it was an honor to be recognized by military members. She was proud just to be in a room full of American heroes, she said.

"I'm humbled," Buckley said. "There are so many other great people out there that love all of Team Buckley, the mission and all that the team does. I feel humbled just to be here. I'm happy."
