Three local airmen stepped up along with members from other military services to assist more than 75 veterans during an Honor Flight Network event Sept. 19, 2015, at the Denver International Airport in Denver. The event honored and welcomed home the veterans who served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War as they returned home from the Washington D.C. area.

The local airmen were Master Sgt. Ronald Brown, Air Reserve Personnel Center Force Development Board Operations assignments facilitator, Tech. Sgt. Kimberly Presbery, ARPC casualties service team technician, and Tech. Sgt. Matthew West, 460th Operations Group NCO in charge of Space-Based Infrared System future development.

Presbery described what it was like to welcome the veterans home.

“We gave the veterans a warm welcome home as we stood in formation, came to attention and saluted them until the entire line passed through the formation. We also helped them with luggage from the terminal until their rides arrived,” Presbery said.

The Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization that honors America’s heroes from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom for their sacrifices.
