ANG to IMA (Component Transfer)

  • Published
Applicable to: Air Force Reserve

Because both losing and gaining services fall under the Air Reserve Component, this is considered a component transfer. Members currently assigned as Guardsmen with their respective state must be separated from the Air National Guard (ANG) before affiliating with the Air Force Reserve (AFR). The member should contact an AFR Recruiter to initiate the assignment package.

* The member's losing ANG unit will submit the separation application through vPC to ARPC/ANG Separations Branch requesting discharge orders.

* ARPC ANG Separations will update and project the assignment (Unit or IMA) in MilPDS.

* ARPC/DPAA will be notified by ARPC ANG Separations of the projected assignment and completion of the discharge order.

* Upon notification of the projected assignment/order completion, ARPC/DPAA will process a batch update on the Effective Date of Change of Strength Accountability (EDCSA) which will assign the member appropriately to the gaining assignment.
