ARPC to notify employees via automated system during inclement weather Published Oct. 18, 2007 By Mike Molina Air Reserve Personnel Center Public Affairs DENVER -- Air Reserve Personnel Center employees won't need to sit by the television this year to find out if the center is closed because of snow or inclement weather. The Information Warning System, a computer-based phone dialer with recorded messages, and notices on ARPC's toll-free phone number and public Web site will be the primary means to notify employees about delayed reporting or closure. ARPC officials are preparing a new inclement weather policy that will eliminate television and radio announcements regarding the status of the center. The instruction has not been officially released, but details about delayed reporting and closure are complete. According to a draft of the instruction, "after consulting with the 460th Space Wing, Buckley AFB; DFAS, and available weather information services, ARPC officials will conduct an assessment of weather and road conditions within a 100-mile radius of the building and make a decision" about the reporting status for ARPC employees. Employees and tenants then will be notified via the Information Warning System about reporting instructions. To ensure timely notification, employees need to enter their contact information in the IWS alert on their desktops. The icon appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and reads "AFRC IWSAlerts" when scrolled over with the mouse. To update contact information, employees should right click on the alert icon and select, "Update My Contact Details." Officials will also use the following secondary measures to notify employees about ARPC's reporting status: · Toll free phone line, 1-800-525-0102, with recorded reporting instructions. · A posted message on the ARPC public Web site at, http://www.arpc.afrc.af.mil/ . · An IWS desktop and/or public address announcement, if needed to notify of early release. · If above methods are not available, pyramid (telephone) recall will be initiated. Also, if the decision is to close for the day, employees should not report to work unless otherwise instructed by their supervisor. When delayed reporting or early release is necessary, a specific report or release time will be given. In delayed reporting situations, employees should not report before the designated arrival time. This delay is necessary to allow for snow and ice removal from roads, parking lots and sidewalks. If an early release is necessary, officials will announce whether a single departure time for all employees or a staggered release is warranted.
